As a creative way to engage in fieldwork in the context of Covid-19, I volunteered in the litigation project, drafted Freedom of Information Act requests (FOIA) related to issues faced by migrants by the US-Mexican borders (Title 42, use and aim of robot dogs, racism and detention/apprehension etc.) Online.
Volunteered in May in a make-shift shelter in the Border Rights Project, registering and getting ready for travel of migrants approved for humanitarian parole in the United States.
Main aim of volunteering: To contribute to the work protecting migrants as well as a creative way of understanding better the border region and migration issues in Mexico considering the complexities in travelling and networking on the ground due to Covid-19.
