I am a researcher at Center for Intercultural Communication (SIK) at VID Specialized University in Stavanger, Norway.
My research interests are migration, displacement, human rights and development.
I have a PhD in Law and Legal Studies from Carleton University in Canada. My doctoral project examined the ‘migrant caravans’ from Central America as a protest movement, considering their implications for international refugee law.
I currently teach and supervise projects related to social sustainability and innovation, migration, intercultural communication, as well as conflict management in the context of diversity.
Prior to the PhD, I worked with civil society organizations related to human rights and youth in several countries and I have written various non-academic articles. I have furthermore worked at the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Egypt, with a focus on gender-based violence.
I have furthermore given several guest lectures in academia, given various courses at a high school level, and taught Norwegian as a second language for adults.
